Trastevere Tour
Tour Length: 3 hrs
Trastevere (meaning "across the River") was historically an unloved step-sister to the city of Rome. Sailors, merchants, Jews, Christians, and other "undesirables" lived on the neighborhood's narrow streets and alleyways. Visit the area's ancient "police station" where the centurions who patrolled the streets lived. We will see the beautiful courtyard at Santa Cecilia, the amazing mosaics and paintings in Santa Maria in Trastevere, and visit an ancient Basilica hidden under Trastevere's busy, modern streets
